How PolyInsider tracks Polymarket

PolyInsider is a free, real-time Polymarket analytics tool. It reads Polymarket's public trade stream, flags every bet of $5,000 or more with the wallet behind it, flags new wallets placing $500 or more on a single market, and keeps a page for every market and every trader. This page says exactly how each number is counted.

Definitions

Whale bet
A single buy of $5,000 or more on one Polymarket outcome, taken from Polymarket’s live trade stream and checked against the trader’s on-chain position within about two minutes. The feed shows the wallet, the market, the side, the entry price and the size. We don’t see sells as alerts; only buys are flagged.
Fresh wallet
A wallet whose first Polymarket trade was less than 24 hours earlier and that has only ever traded one market, buying $500 or more on it, in one order or stacked from smaller buys. It is the pattern of a wallet opened for a single bet. Every flag is re-verified a few minutes after the trade to remove false positives.
Stacked position
When the same wallet buys the same outcome of the same market more than once, the feed shows one card with the combined size, the volume-weighted average entry price and the number of buys.
Bought at
The price of one share when the bet was placed, in cents. A share pays $1 if the outcome happens and nothing if it does not, so the price is the market’s probability at that moment.
Profit if right
Shares times one minus the entry price: what the position gains if the outcome happens, before any fees. Return if right is that profit divided by the amount bet.
Notable trades
The whale and fresh-wallet bets stored for a market, shown newest first or largest first. The default view covers the last seven days; the counts on market cards are all-time distinct wallets.
Tracked P&L
Realised and unrealised profit as Polymarket’s public data reports it for a wallet’s positions, shown on trader pages and the leaderboard. Figures are before fees unless Polymarket already nets them.
Win rate
The share of a trader’s settled markets that finished in profit. Markets lost at resolution count as losses; open positions never count as wins. Rankings look back; they don’t predict.
Market read
The plain-language summary on every market page: who leads and by how much, where the tracked whale money went, and how the market resolves. Every sentence is computed from the stored bets and the price history at render time.
Taker fee
Polymarket charges a fee on some categories to the side that takes liquidity, computed on the notional times price times one minus price. As of October 2026 crypto and most sports carry a fee while NBA, politics and several other categories do not. Profit figures on this site are before fees.

Where the data comes from

Everything on the site is derived from Polymarket's public data. The live feeds read Polymarket's real-time trade stream, so a bet appears within seconds of printing. Positions and trade histories on trader pages come from Polymarket's public data API, which is also used to reconcile each flagged bet against the wallet's actual position about two minutes later. Market titles, outcomes, prices, volume and resolution rules come from Polymarket's market API, and price charts from its price history. Prices shown are Polymarket's own and move with every trade.

The thresholds are fixed: $5,000 for a whale bet and $500 for a fresh wallet, in every market. The whale feed has a minimum-size slider if you want to see only larger bets.

What the tracker cannot tell you

  • A large bet is not proof of information. It can be a hedge against a position elsewhere, a market-making fill or a trader who is simply wrong. Some whales lose consistently.
  • A fresh wallet is a pattern, not an accusation. New wallets also belong to ordinary first-time users.
  • Sells are not flagged. The feeds show buys only, so a wallet that exits a position does not generate an alert.
  • Rankings and win rates describe past settled markets. They look back; they don't predict.
  • Data can lag Polymarket by seconds during busy games, and a page cached by the browser or a CDN can be up to a minute old.

Independence

PolyInsider is independent and not affiliated with Polymarket. It is free and collects no personal data. In countries where Polymarket is available, outbound links to Polymarket may carry a referral parameter; where Polymarket is not licensed, the site shows public market data only, without trade links.

Citing and reusing the data

You are welcome to quote or link any page. Whale alerts are also available as an RSS feed and through the Telegram bot. A machine-readable summary of the site lives at /llms-full.txt. Market pages follow the same slug as polymarket.com/event/{slug}, under /markets; topic hubs cover Politics, Elections, Geopolitics, Sports, Soccer, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, Champions League, Premier League, Crypto, Economy, Tech & AI.
